A few days ago I met this guy — my now friend, Paul — who makes $6M a year in revenue building and selling Minecraft builds. Things like houses and dragons for Minecraft players.
He has a team of 16 people and he started out doing it himself and then turned it into a business. He started it when he was 16 and now at 23 he owns a multimillion dollar company doing what he loves doing.
This story perfectly illustrates something I deeply believe: you can make money in so many interesting ways. This world is abundant!
Think about it — while most people are chasing the same conventional career paths, Paul found a niche that most 'serious' business people would laugh at. Virtual buildings in a video game? That's not a real business, right? Wrong. $6M in annual revenue with a team of 16 says otherwise.
The lessons here are profound:
First, don't let anyone tell you your idea is too niche or too weird. The internet has made it possible to find your audience no matter how specific your offering is.
Second, start young and start doing. Paul didn't wait for permission or a business degree. He started building, found people who wanted what he made, and scaled from there.
Third, passion is a legitimate business strategy. When you genuinely love what you do, you'll outwork and out-create anyone who's just in it for the money.
Check out his company Honeyfrost — it's a testament to what's possible when you combine creativity with entrepreneurial drive.
